The Making of a Vine Celebrity

Not only has this guy become famous in an instant, it looks like he's not just a "flash in the pan" because is seems as though he understands how to use social media apps to promote himself and other things around him. [Update: He and everyone else IS a "flash in the pan" as far as Vine is concerned - since they're pulling the plug on Vine!]
Had you heard of Jerome before reading the article? What do you think of what he's done on Vine? What do you think about this kind of opportunity with mobile apps, such as Snapchat? Can anybody do it? Will such fame last, and is it something that can be made into a legitimate business?

i have heard of this guy before and in my opinion he can kick rocks he hasnt done a whole lot on vine compared to other people and there is a lot of opputunity on these apps you see famous viners in movies all the time now and i think if you have the passion to do it you probobly can but idk if they are gonna be as famous in 10 years
ReplyDeleteI agree with you because opportunities with these apps are endless. Just think of all of these vine and musically stars where they were just famous for doing whatever they did on the app then now they are in movies and commercials and music videos

DeleteTrue. He hasn't done a lot, I haven't ever heard of him, and he had some passion, but he didn't put a lot of creativity into what he was doing and I think he could've done a lot more with what he had.

Deletei have never heard of James before now. When i look at him i think that he would be like one of those really annoying people that think their funny. Mobile apps are definitely such a big part of all of this fame. People can post 1 thing and instantly get famous. I feel like not anyone can do it. The fame will last because it started somewhere and its only just going to get bigger and better for them as time goes on. I think depending on what they are doing then it can turn into a business.

I think what he did was great and good for him from coming from pretty much nothing to becoming famous in the matter of days just from posting a video online. I think that snapchat and instagram and other social medias are useful for people like him. The fame probably won't last but he will most likely have a lot of money for awhile.

DeleteI had never heard of this guy previous to Monday and I can see why. He hasn't done all that much and his content doesn't appeal to me as much as others. I prefer people like Thomas Sanders. I believe he kind of got lucky ona couple of videos and went on from there with what he had. He got fortunate. That's how social media fame tends to go.

DeleteI think platforms such as this belittle the achievements of others who have worked hard to gain a social standing. Being able to gain just as many promotions as someone who has dedicated their lives to the same subject seems unfair.

ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this guy before until now. Some people are able to get an actual career out of this but I personally don't think it'll last forever. Good for him for making that coin but I doubt being on such apps will give you a solid career for the rest of your life.

DeleteI have not herd of this guy before until reading this blog but I do believe that is is possible for someone to thrive or even get a good carer off of vine or even youtube but someone definitely could not thrive on vine any more that app is 100% dead. I also believe if someone really tried and put some heart into one of these apps you probably could become famous.

ReplyDeleteI think Vine is one of the stupidest apps ever created. Posting a 6 second video of yourself doing something completely irrelevant, in my opinion, is a waste of time. I would rather make an average salary doing something productive, than making millions by creating Vine videos. This guy didn't do anything great and I couldn't care less about him.

ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Jerome, but he has been able to successfully transfer his success from vine to youtube. I wouldn't say he is famous, but he can sustain a constant living from it.

Deletei Have heard of Jerome and to be honest i never really liked him. Jerome always thought he was funny but his vines were really bad and not funny at all. In my opinion i don't think you can make a living off of vine, sure you can have opportunities with the app. But in the long run it won't really get you anywhere.
